SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ``Trailer Safety Improvement Act''.

SEC. 2. TRAILER SAFETY PROGRAMS.

Section 402(a)(2)(A)(xiv) of

title 23, United States Code, is

amended by inserting ``, prevent improper and unsafe use of light-duty and medium-duty trailers, and educate the public about required trailer safety equipment and preventive maintenance'' after ``unsecured vehicle loads''. <all>
